Hesham Issawi, also Egyptian-born,
attended film school at Columbia College
in Chicago. After graduating in 1995, Hesham worked at local TV
stations, producing the 1996 documentary Saving the
Sphinx for The Learning Channel.
In 1999, Hesham moved to Los Angeles where he continues to work
as a freelance editor.
Hesham has edited such films as Saving Egyptian
Film Classics, a 2001 documentary directed by
Sayed Badreya. This documentary
marked the beginning of Hesham’s partnership with Sayed
and Zoom In Focus Production that
continues to this day. For Zoom In Focus,
Hesham also co-wrote and directed both:
The Interrogation which won Best
Creative Short Film and Best
Musical Score at the 2002
New York International Independent Film & Video Festival,
as well as the SLATE award for Best Score
at the 2002 California Independent
Film Festival and
T For Terrorist, winner of Best
Narrative Short at this year’s Boston
International Film Festival and now making its rounds on
the festival circuit.
Hesham Issawi and Sayed Badreya
make a great team and are currently developing a feature-length
script for Zoom In Focus Production
that expands on the T for Terrorist
theme of Arab stereotyping in Hollywood.
